Debbie’s Story

Debbie is a long time patient of Dr. Nicol’s who has always been embarrassed of her smile. She presented with congenitally missing lateral incisors and large diastemas around the mesial positioned canines.  She had been to multiple orthodontic consultations over the years, but declined treatment time and time again because she couldn’t bear the thought of years of braces and then implant surgery.  Debbie needed another option.

After multiple conversations discussing restorative options, doctor and ceramist quickly realized that with careful planning and attention to detail, they could give Debbie the smile she had always dreamed of through restorative dentistry alone. Impressions, bite records and a complete series of photos were sent to the lab so the case could be mounted and the diagnostic wax-up completed.

Dr. Nicol and the ceramist determined that with a precise preparation design of the canines complimented with slight tissue re-contouring using a diode laser, they could fabricate two three-unit bridges that would give the illusion of laterals in the canine positions. With the addition of pink porcelain to the e.max bridges, ideal proportions of the lateral incisors were established.

After so many years of trying to hide her teeth, the restorative combination of e.max veneers on #8 and #9 and crowns on #3, #4, #13, #14 gave Debbie a beaming smile that she is proud to share.
